Normington April 25, 1905 - April 5, 2005 Verona M. Normington, 99, of Stockton, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2005. She was born in Jacksonville, CA on April 25, 1905 and was the oldest of 9 brothers and sisters. She was married to Ray Normington for 54 years and he preceded her in death in 1977. Verona was a homemaker with many skills including knitting and crocheting. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She loved her Lord and always gave her time to the Lutheran Church. She was an accomplished Braillist for 20 years and also started the Lutheran sight saving ministry of which the material is now printed in many languages and distributed worldwide. Verona and her husband, Ray enjoyed their retirement traveling throughout the United States. Fishing was one of their shared sports and they enjoyed playing pinochle with friends and family. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and lived in Stockton, Kentwoodlands, CA and in her retirement years in Woodbridge. Survivors: son, George and his wife, Joan Normington of Placerville, CA; daughter, Inez and her husband, Arnold Schamber of Stockton; 8 grandchildren, Leslie Sharp, Lynn Lorber, Kim Normington, Jody Bardsley, David Schamber, Jon Schamber, Jane Kennedy and Robert Schamber; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Iola Parsons of Escalon, Jean Conaway of Sacramento; 2 brothers, Howard Rouse of Folsom, CA, Kenneth Rouse of Prescott, AZ. Graveside committal services for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 8, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park followed by a Memorial services at St. Peter Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
