Maria Acosta Vda De Tzintzun, 90, born in Hacienda de los Mendoza, State of Guanajuato, Gto, Mexico, passed away on August 30, 2004. She was a devoted wife and mother who was raised and attended primary schools in East Chicago, Indiana in the mid 20's. She met and married Mr. Jose B. Tzintzun and in 1932 the family relocated to the State of Michoacan where she assisted her husband as a teacher in the rural towns of Mexico. In 1941, she received her Teaching appointment by then President of Mexico, Gral. Lazaro Cardenas in the town of Tafetan Michoacan, Mexico. She spent 16 years as a teacher in the Rural towns of this same state. In 1952, she returned to the United States to settle in the City of Stockton where she was employed at Tillie Lewis Food Processing and other food processing plants until her retirement. She was the role model of a hard working, loving mother, grandmother, and great great-grandmother. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Acosta and Jacinta Hernandez, husband Jose B. Tzintzun, son Raul Tzintzun, and daughter Josefina Gonzales, brothers Francisco Acosta and Alfonso Acosta. Loving mother of Rodolfo Tzintzun, Emma Maria Tzintzun Jimenez, Reynaldo Tzintzun, Jose Luis Tzintzun, Lidia Ochoa, Jesus Tzintzun, and Mary Francis Ochoa. Sister of Domingo Acosta. Grandmother of 36, 58 great-grandchildren and 6 great great- grandchildren. A Rosary will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California Street. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 2, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at St. George's Catholic Church, 120 W. 5th Street, Stockton. Visitation: Wednesday, September 1, 2004 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mortuary. Committal: San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
