He was born July 25, 1915, in Sacramento to Royal Spencer and Ruth Langdon Akers and moved to Stockton with his family in 1933. He attended College of the Pacific where he was a member of Archania fraternity, and he was a WW II veteran. He was married for 50 years to the late Gertrude Katherine Erz, and was the father of Nancy Ruth and Alan Spencer Akers. He was a house painter for Al Davies Painting in Stockton for several years before forming his own painting business. He painted the homes under construction in Park Woods subdivision during the 50s before moving to La Jolla, CA as a partner in a Kelly-Moore retail store for several years. He later moved to the Bay Area and worked for Kelly-Moore Inc. as an area supervisor before his retirement and moving to Long Barn, CA. While in Stockton, he was a member of North Stockton Lions Club (past president), Morning Star Lodge, F&AM and Charity Lodge, Odd Fellows. His wife of 13 years, Bernice of Newcastle; daughter, Nancy Yingst of Stockton; sister Erma DeCarli of Stockton and several nieces and nephews survive him. Preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Gertrude, son, Alan and brother, A. Marion Akers. Private family services will be held in Auburn, CA.
