Catherine Jane Gunderson Katana 
May 28, 1920 - Sept. 5, 2004



Jane Katana, 84, entered peacefully into eternal rest on September 5, following 
a valiant struggle with cancer. Born in Outlook, Montana, Jane graduated at age 
16 from Flaxville High School, and went on to business college in Great Falls, 
Montana, where she later met and married Julius M. Katana in 1940. She pursued 
a secretarial career with the State Farm Insurance Agency of Conrad, MT. 
Retiring in 1984 after 32 years, she studied piano and organ, and became an 
organist for the First Christian Church of Conrad, MT. She moved to California 
to live with her daughter in September, 2003. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 44 years, and both of 
her siblings. Survivors include children James M. Katana (Lynn) of Bend, 
Oregon, and Julie E. Katana of Stockton, three grandchildren, and three step-
grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be celebrated in Conrad, Montana on 
September 13, 2004.
