Muriel E. Sunderland 
May 13, 1916 - September 10, 2004



Muriel E. Sunderland, 88 years old, passed away Friday, September 10, 2004, at 
a local hospital. Muriel worked in the optical field for 30 years beginning in 
Muskogee, Oklahoma, then moving to Modesto, California. She worked for Bosch 
and Lomb in Stockton then went to Martin Optical in Modesto until she retired 
in 1980. She moved to Stockton in 1981, to be near her beloved grandchildren. 
Muriel was a member of the Church of Christ. After retirement, 
Muriel  "puttered" in her garden of roses, in her home and enjoyed her 
grandchildren and great grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1976. Surviving relatives 
are her son Gregory; daughter-in-law, Kay; two granddaughters Jennifer McDonald 
and Stephanie Adams; their spouses, Tom McDonald and Sean Adams; three great 
grandchildren, Abigail McDonald, Steven and Devin Adams; two sisters, Helen 
Simmons of Edmund, Oklahoma and Doris Ramsey of Seminole, Oklahoma. Many nieces 
and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews.
She will be laid to rest at Lakewood Cemetery in Hughson, California following 
services on Thursday, September 16, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at DeYoung Shoreline 
Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, CA 95219. Interment is private. 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2004, from noon until 7:00 
p.m. at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel.
