Grant Mar. 26, 1920 - Sept. 14, 2004 George A. Grant of Stockton, California, age 84 years, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2004. He was born on March 26, 1920 to Wyatt H. Grant and Lillie Mae Reader in Devine, Texas. He married Dorothea L. Peachey and they had two sons, Leonard G. Grant and Kent A. Grant. He had a granddaughter, Sunni Grant, from Leonard's marriage, and two grandsons, Joseph and John Grant, from Kent's marriage. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law and Kent's wife, Ellen Grant; also grandchildren, Erika, Christina, and David Ragsdale; great grandchildren, Jessica Lawson, Isabella Grant, Eric, Austin, and Eleana Grant; and step-sons, Rick, Dennis, and David Ragsdale. He was preceded in death by 4 siblings. Dorothea passed away in 1992 after 52 years of marriage. George later married Rita Maxine Ragsdale and has been truly blessed to have had two wonderful women in his life. George was a World War II veteran in the Army Air Corp/Army Air Force and subsequently served in the U.S. Air Force for a total of 20 years before retiring as a Senior Master Sargeant. In World War II, he served in England, France, and North Africa as a B-17 Crew Chief. Later in his Air Force career he was a Flight Engineer for C-130 air craft. George also worked for 20 years with the California Youth Authority and retired as a Lieutenant. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Quail Lakes Baptist Church, 1904 Quail Lakes Dr., Stockton. Graveside committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 & Harney Ln., Lodi. Military Honors will be presented by the the Travis Air Force Base Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 207 E.
