His family is rejoicing in the assurance that he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born June 6, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1955, at the age of 17 and retired as Chief Petty Officer in Hawaii in 1974. He proudly served his country in Viet Nam from 1966 - 1971 aboard the U.S.S. Caliante and U.S.S. Ponchatula, support fleet operations in the Tonkin Gulf. Additionally, he was dispatched to Cameron Bay, serving in-country at the communications command center. His Viet Nam service consisted of a total of nine campaigns. Upon retirement he founded and published the Central Valley Business Journal in Stockton, CA. Later he devoted 18 months as editor of the Indochinese News and worked with the Southeast Asian community for seven years and World Relief in Stockton. He served four years on the Linden Water Board and on the board of his neighborhood community association in Lodi. In 1987, he rededicated his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized along with his wife at the First Baptist Church of Linden, CA. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Stockton, CA. In 1960, he met and married the love of his life, Nancy Anderson in Honolulu, Hawaii. Together, they raised three children and would have celebrated 44 years of marriage on October 1st. Survived by children, Bob Campbell (Arlene) of Lodi, Diana Davenport (Russell) of Acampo and Julie Klein of Stockton; brothers, Frank Campbell of Pacific Palisades and Bob Campbell of Saugus and sister, Mary Lord of Palm Springs; grandchildren, Mykensie and Parker Klein and Matthew and Sarah Campbell. Friends are invited to join the family as they celebrate his life in a Memorial Service with military honors at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Lodi, 267 N. Mills Ave., Lodi, CA. "Aloha/ Tropical" attire is encouraged! There will be a reception on site immediately following the service. No visitation. Private interment, Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii.
