Filpi, 93, of Stockton made his final journey on Tuesday, September 21, 2004, from natural causes. It was the 26th anniversary of his wife Josephine's funeral. He was born August 30, 1911 in New Orleans, LA to Salvatore and Francesca Filpi. The family moved to Sacramento early in George's life where he graduated from Sacramento High School in 1929. Shortly after high school he worked for a pharmacy in Quincy, CA for two years. In 1930 he took and passed the state pharmaceutical board exam. He moved to Stockton in 1931 where he worked for the Southside and Triangle Drug stores. In 1933 he married his long time sweetheart Josephine Faccidomo and the couple had two sons, Robert and Ronald. In 1938 he opened his own drug store on North El Dorado St. and aptly named it Filpi's Drug Store. He ran the store for nine years before deciding to sell and try his hand at bigger things. One year later he opened Valley Wholesale Drug with two partners. During his time there he was also a founding partner in Independent Wholesale Drug in Santa Rosa and San Francisco. He ran Valley Wholesale Drug until the age of 70 when he retired. Recreationally, George loved his time on the golf course and playing cards with his many friends in the Men's Grill at the Stockton Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Annunciation, Stockton Golf and Country Club, Elks Lodge BPOE218, Amblers, and a past president of the Pharmaceutical Wholesalers Association. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The lives he touched are forever changed simply by virtue of knowing him. George was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine. He is survived by his two sons, Dr. Robert Filpi (wife Joyce) of Saratoga, CA, Ronald Filpi (wife Carolyn) of Stockton, and five grandchildren, Darren Filpi of Redwood City, Damon Filpi of Toluca Lake, Donovan Filpi of San Diego, Matthew Filpi (wife Elizabeth) of Dallas, TX, and Lisa Filpi of San Francisco. The family would like to acknowledge his care giver, Ernestine Patterson and her daughters for their years of dedi-cated service and the loving care they provided. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of the Annunciation, Rose and Van Buren St., Stockton, CA, Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, CA, Sunday, September 26, 2004, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Committal: San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
