She was 64 years old. Linda was born April 22, 1940 in Stockton, CA. She graduated from Lodi Union High School. Linda continued her education at San Jose State University and graduated with majors in English and Librarianship and a California Teaching Credential. Dr. Lucas worked in the Livermore Unified School District and the Fremont Unified School District at Mission San Jose High School before joining Chabot College as a Reference Librarian in 1969. In 1975 she became Assistant Dean of Instruction of Learning Resources and was part of the original staff establishing and opening Valley Campus - later to become Las Positas College. Linda received her Doctorate in Educational Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco in 1982. She became Dean of division 1 at Las Positas College in 1997. She retired in 2000, after 31 years of service to the Community College District. Following her retirement, Linda completed a Juris Doctorate from John F. Kennedy University and joined the California Bar Association in December 2003, and was just embarking on her second career. Linda was very interested in the performing arts and established the Lucas Scholarship for the Performing Arts at Las Positas College. She was an avid traveler who enjoyed visiting new places and learning about the people and cultures in the areas she visited. Linda is survived by her mother, Amy Lucas Farnsworth; brother, Stanley Howard Lucas, step-brothers, Chuck, Fred, Glen and Jim Farnsworth. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Lucas and her brother Raymond Bruce Lucas. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grace Presbyterian Church, 10 N. Mills Ave., Lodi with Pastor David Hill officiating. Committal will be private in the Lodi Memorial Cemetery Devotion Mausoleum. Visitation was held on Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home. The family requests donations be made in Linda's name to Las Positas College Foundation, 3033 Collier Canyon Road, Livermore, CA 94551.
