She entered into this world on December 12, 1949 in Stockton, CA. Shirley was a 1968 graduate of Stagg High School. She graduated in 1971 from the San Jose School of Nursing. She married Russell Swisher on October 9, 1976. She had a 33 year career as an accomplished and compassionate registered nurse in ICU at Standford University Medical Center and was beloved by nurses, doctors, and her patients. She will be best remembered as a loving and devoted wife, a very proud mother, and daughter, She will be deeply missed by her husband, her two children, Jonathan Ryan Swisher and Heather Irene Swisher all of Santa Clara, CA; her beloved mother, Tina Broderick of Sunnyvale, CA; her god daughter, Landra Bickley of Mt. View, CA; her godparents, Helen Giafaglione of San Jose, CA and Tony Rocha of Stockton, CA. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Manuel and Mary Rocha of Stockton, CA. She leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, as well as all the angelic nurses from Stanford Hospital who were at her side. Friends are invited to attend a recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2004, at the Chapel of the Palms, 303 South California St., Stockton, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. the Cathedral of the Annunciation, 425 West Magnolia St., Stockton, CA. Committal: San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) and Hospice of the Valley at 1150 So.
