He was born on October 14, 1914, in Cookeville, TN. Cordell moved to Stockton almost 60 years ago and began working as a welder and then went to work for Stockton Grain Elevator's, where he retired after over 30 years as a dedicated employee. Cordell enjoyed taking his children fishing on the Delta Waterways and he especially enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. For over 30 years, he volunteered his time playing his guitar and singing at many local convalescent homes. Cordell also enjoyed working with wood and had a talent to create just about anything he wanted. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Stockton since 1947 and served as a Deacon and a dedicated volunteer at the church. Cordell will be deeply missed by his wife of 29 years, Mable and his children, George King of Stockton, Don King of Wyoming, Nora Woolley of Stockton, Betty Damon of Lodi, Kenneth Wolf of Modesto, Don Wolf of Sacramento and Barbara Biehl of Lodi; his sister, Callie Benson of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and his very close friend Mr. James Patrick. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Wallace- Martin Funeral Home, 520 N. Sutter Street in Stockton and Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 3535 N. El Dorado Street in Stockton on Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to stay at the church immediately following the service for a time of fellowship and refreshment. A committal will take place on Friday, October 8, 2004 at the Brotherton Cemetery in Cookeville, TN. Wallace-Martin Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
