Karen was born April 4, 1936 to Jack and Eleanor Granlees. She was an elementary school teacher for the Lodi Unified and Oak View School Districts for 12 years. She also owned and operated Karen's Kreations Flower Shop for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and St. John's Episcopal Church, Church Choir, Stockton Chorale, I.D singers, Lodi Community Concert Assoc., Lodi Symphony Assoc., Lodi Women's Club, Lodi Garden Club, Tokay's Model A's Club, Rainbow Girls, Boy's & Girl's Club, Merry Makers Dance Club, Dakota Club, Memorial Hospital Auer and Cub Scout Den Mother and was president of Lodi Republican Women. Her passion was music, both singing and playing piano, traveling, flowers, gardening, her farm animals and entertaining. She loved people and doing for others. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Orville DeJong of Lodi; 1 son, Kevin DeJong of Lodi; 1 daughter, Sheri Pendell and husband Frank of Stonyford; 1 brother, Steve Gandlees and wife Sharron of Lockeford; 1 sister, Frankie Engle and husband Ray of Clements; 3 grandchildren, Edwin, Jeremy and Joy Pendell all of Stonyfrod. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 8, 2004, 9:00 am at the Glenview Cemetery in Clements, followed by a Memorial Service at the First United Methodist Church in Lodi at 11:00 am.
