Born on February 25, 1926, in Stockton, CA, she was a school administrator and elementary teacher with the Lincoln Unified School District for 33 years. She retired in 1981, as Principal of Lincoln Elementary School. She received her BA from Mills College, Masters from UOP and did graduate work at University of Washington, U.C. Berkeley, Stanford University and U.C. Davis. Bette Lou was a charter member of Von Dra Di. A member of Rainbow for Girls, Lambda Theta Phi, Association of School Administrators, Delta Kappa Gamma, Altrusa International, P T A, N E A, National Association of Retired Teachers, California Retired Teachers Association and the 49ers Goal Rushers Booster Club. Bette Lou was a member of First Baptist Church since 1936 serving as organist from 1947 to 1962. She also served on various committees within the church and ministered to Church shut-ins since 1987. Bette Lou is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jay V. Miller of Stockton and her sister, Wanda Priestley Randolph of Stockton. Niche side services on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, in Cherokee Memorial Park. Pastor James Dunn officiating. Max Carroll in charge of arrangements.
