He leaves to remember life his five daughters and a son: Sharon Lyons of San Jose, Michael Lyons of Richmond, Lennette Gaines of Manteca, Dawn Rodriguez of Stockton, Melba Lyons of Sacramento, La France Austin of Sacramento; two brothers: Nolan Lyons of Lancaster, John Lyons of Llano; five sisters: Deborah Lyons of Homewood, IL, Doris Stewart of Harbor City, Iola Trujillo of Garden Grove, Winnie Johnson of Glendale, AZ and Lillian Smith of Compton, plus a host of cousins, In-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He came to California in 1943 in the employ of the US Army Air Corps during the Second World War. A case of the measles kept him from traveling with his Air Base Security unit to Europe. He served honorably Stateside and was discharged as a Sergeant. Known in Richmond as the "Five Dollar Man" to his legion of youthful Barber Shop customers, Lenon Lyons was the proprietor of Ebony Barber Shop on Macdonald Avenue from 1979 until his retirement in 1997. Baptized into the Church of Christ in 1956, you could often see him reading his Bible while awaiting customers; he served faithfully as a member of the Southside Church of Christ, and the Hilltop Church of Christ while in Richmond and attended the East Main Church of Christ in Stockton until his passing in Manteca on September 30, 2004.
