Merle Bates 
Dec. 11, 1934 - Oct. 10, 2004



  Merle Bates, 69, of Stockton, CA passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2004. She 
was born December 11, 1934 in Oklahoma. Mrs. Bates was employed, in the past, 
as a grocery clerk for 10 years, and has resided in Stockton for the past 12 
years. 
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Tony Gutierrez of 
Stockton; a son, Tracy Price of San Francisco; siblings, Guy Smith of Stockton, 
Gene Smith of Jackson, and Gerry Mobley of Stockton; and 4 grandchildren, Sasha 
Coca, Jacqueline Mills, Tracy Mills, and Carissa Palomino. 
Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 16, 2004, at 12:00 noon in the 
Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane, Lodi. 
Committal will follow at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on 
Saturday, 11:00 - 12:00 noon at Evergreen Chapel. Cherokee Memorial Funeral 
Home in charge of arrangements.
