William was born May 16, 1919 in Tahle- quah, OK. He was a resident of Stockton for 63 years. Mr. Powers was a U.S. Army Veteran of W.W.II. He was a welding supervisor of ship building at the Stockton Shipyards. He was a member of the Boiler Makers Union; F. & A.M. Blue Lodge #19 of San Joaquin; Past Patron of Golden Poppy Eastern Star; Scottish Rite; Shriners Ben Ali Temple Sacramento; Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Lodi; and Northern Cherokee Indian Alliance. He is survived by wife Helen I. Powers of Stockton, 2 sons; Leroy Powers of Lockeford and Jimmie Powers of Stockton; 4 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Also survived by his 2 brothers; Sam Powers of Portland, OR and George Powers of Broken Arrow, OK and his sister, Sue Charles of Tahlequah, OK. Graveside Services at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, on Friday July 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation: Thursday, July 8, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
