Helen was born on February 11, 1915, in Salt Lake City, Utah to John and Beatrice Malloy. She came to Stockton in 1920 and resided in Stockton for 84 years. She married her childhood sweetheart, Harold "Sonny" Limbaugh, Jr, who preceded her in death. She also joins her son, the late Richard Neal Limbaugh and his wife, the late Mary Ann Limbaugh in Heaven. Helen leaves behind two loving sons, Harold "Skip" Limbaugh III and wife Mitzie of Modesto, and Jon Edward Limbaugh of Stockton. Helen ("Gram") was the beloved grandmother of Victoria Vartanian and husband Gary, of Modesto; Richard Limbaugh and wife Maggie, of Valencia; James Limbaugh and wife Sharyl, of Modesto; Margaret "Pegi" Lagassa and husband Larry, of Salida; Lisa Limbaugh-Guardado and husband Eddie, of Tustin; Julie Limbaugh of Stockton; and Leah Rueda and husband Albert, of Stockton. Helen was the proud great-grandmother ("G.G.") of Harris, Spencer, and Tyson Vartanian; Gabriel and Griffith Limbaugh; Jimmy and Jessica Limbaugh; Niko and Jakob Guardado; and Albert, Angelo and Adrian Rueda. She is also survived by her dear sister, Carole Zevely; sister-in-law, Barbara Limbaugh, and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen loved the city of Stockton and was an active member of the community. She volunteered for several organizations, including St. Joseph's Medical Center Auxiliary, where she served as a "Pink Lady" for more than 40 years. A long time member of the Pythian Sisters, Helen served as Grand Chief of California, and spent many years devoted to several Pythian causes, including the Pythian Youth Camp and the Pythian Sunshine Girls. She loved to work in her garden and belonged to the Stockton Garden Club as well as the Designing Women group. She was active in establishing the Blue Star Memorial, which honors all Veterans. She was an avid baseball fan who started each morning checking the boxscores, and especially loved the San Francisco Giants and the Minnesota Twins. No words can express how much her family loves her, no way of conveying how much she taught us, influenced, nurtured and loved each one of us. She set an example for all and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren, our biggest supporter! ("You can do it! Get out there and Go For it! I believe in you! You have to have a little Faith!"). Helen was the epitome of strength, and was a 47-year cancer survivor. Stubborn and opinionated, compassionate and caring, Helen spent her life on earth surrounding herself with the family that she loved so much. Summers spent with her in Santa Cruz, her wonderful storytelling, holidays and family dinners around the "Grown-up's" Table, she made every occasion magical. She loved her friends dearly, and was always there to lend a hand (or an ear) or a shoulder to cry on. She was our Rock and our Angel on earth. As much as her family meant to her, she meant even more to us. The lessons that she taught us will sustain and comfort us for the remainder of our lives. "A million times we've needed you, A million times we've cried. If love alone could've saved you, You never would have died. In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place No one will ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone. Part of us went with you The day God took you home." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Visitation will be held Sunday, July 11, 2004, between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and Monday, July 12, 2004, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at DeYoung Memorial Chapel.
