Elmer "Jerry" Davis October 24, 1936 - March 24, 2004 Elmer "Jerry" Davis, 67, Dad, Papa, Teacher and Friend pass- ed away suddenly Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, San Jose, CA with his daughter, Jill and close family friend Coleen by his side. Jerry was born October 24, 1936 in Pittsburg, California, son of Erwin and Bernadine (Redding) Davis. In 1947, the family lived in Coon Rapids, IA where the Davis family has many relatives. Jerry graduated from Mt. Diablo High School, Concord, CA in 1954, and went on to earn degrees from East Contra Costa Junior College ('56), San Jose State ('63) and Sacramento State ('69), achieving his Master of Arts in Education while raising six children. During his lifetime he was a teacher and counselor for many different facilities including Amador High School, Sutter Creek, CA, the O.H. Close School for Delinquent Boys, Stockton, CA and Lincoln Unified School District, Stockton, CA. He enjoyed a good game of golf, a good or bad game of baseball, baseball spring training in AZ, bowling, astronomy, airplanes, camping with his children, grandchildren and dog "Jack", collecting antique small engines and talking on his ham radio. In 1996 he retired from his official lifelong education of children and adults and moved to Tuolumne County where he enjoyed "not wearing a watch anymore". His parents and only brother, Richard Donald Davis preceded him in death. He is survived by his six children, Denise Williams of Arizona, Lisa Davis-Yost of Angels Camp, Jeff Davis of San Diego, Gina Bijleveld of Sonora, Laura Loveland of Santa Rosa and Jill Barrailler of San Diego and eleven grandchildren. At his request, no services will be held and scattering of his remains will be private.
