(Bill) Prevo Oct. 15, 1921 - July 18, 2004 Randall M. (Bill) Prevo, 82, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004 in Castro Valley, CA. Randall was born in Casper, Wyoming on October 15, 1921. He was raised in the Big Horn basin near Manderson and attended local schools. He volunteered for military service in 1940 and served in the 3rd Infantry Division through eight campaigns in No. Africa, Sicily, Italy (Anzio), France, Germany and Austria. He was awarded the Bronze Star for action on Anzio beachhead. He married Irene Thouvenin in Remiremont, France in July, 1945. After the war, he attended schools in Stockton and graduated from College of Pacific in 1950. He finished one year of post graduate work and completed a Certificate in Public Administration from University of California in 1963. After graduation from Pacific, he served as Admin. Asst. to the City Manager in charge of Personnel and was Personnel Director of San Joaquin County for 12 years. He was Personnel Officer and Dep. County Administrator of Napa County one year. He served as General Manager of public employee organizations in the counties of Marin, Kern, Alameda and San Diego. He was General Manager of California Public Employees Association of State of California, representing over 80,000 county employees and was a Legislative Representative in Sacramento for approximately 10 years. He taught on a part-time basis in the 50's and 60's for Humphrey's Business College. He retired full time in 1989. Randall was editor of the Grand Jury of San Joaquin County 1988-89; he performed volunteer service at Food Bank and Kaiser Perma-nente Hospital, following retirement and he published the story of his life 'One Prevo's Story' and donated copies to local libraries and UOP, etc. He has been a member of Stockton Sertoma Club, Stockton Area Personnel Council, Elks, American Legion Posts, SIRS and a life member of VFW. He was also a member of Church of the Presentation and Knights of Columbus Council #10478. Hobbies were golf, reading (biographies, history and Civil War buff) and he was active at various times in the Republican Party. He headed up a local "I Like Ike" organization in the 1950's. He traveled extensively thoughout California and the entire western U.S., plus much of the rest of the nation. He made several post-war visits to France. Randall is survived by his wife, Irene M., and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1995. Also survived by daughters, Martine Sears of Stockton, Odile Draa of Manteca, Ann-Marie Prevo of Castro Valley and Bernadette Kidd of Santa Rosa. He enjoyed nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One sister, Phyllis Strong, lived in Hyattville, Wyoming and nephews living in Arizona, Wyoming and France. Family and friends are invited to attend a Rosary service on Friday, July 23, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. followed at 10:00 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 23 at the Church of Presentation, 1515 W. Ben Holt Drive, Stockton, CA. There will be no visitation. DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, in care of arrangements. Committal at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
