She was born Flora May Brown in the state of Washington on May 1, 1918 and was raised in Oregon. After her family moved to California, Flora May attended Los Gatos High School and later graduated from Stanford University. During a distinguished 36 year high school career as a Business Teacher, she taught in Guam, Dunsmuir, Salinas, Stockton, and Bakersfield. Her husband William Nathan preceded her in death. After retirement, Flora May moved from Bakersfield to Aptos and later to Willow Glen to be closer to her family. Along with her love of family and friends, Flora May's passions were water color painting, needlework, crafts, and gardening. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Simpson of Aptos, nieces, Bonnie Jackson of Oregon and Sue Flowers of San Jose, nephews, Carlos Simpson of Oregon, John Simpson of Aptos, and Bruce Simpson of La Selva Beach. Flora May also leaves a large group of loving grand nieces and grand nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga, CA.
