He was born October 5, 1938 in Bakersfield, CA to Argus and Media Turner. He grew up in nearby Lamont with his parents, brothers Dwayne and Larry Turner and sister Wanda Rice. Lee attended Arvin High School where he was active in sports. He was a member of the high school's football, basketball and baseball teams as well as president of the athletic association. He moved to Stockton in 1959 to work for Stockton Box, later American Forest Products, where he worked for 15 years. In Stockton he met and married Carole Louise Stamps, his wife for 43 years. In 1976, together with George Stanley, they started "Stockton Wholesale Lumber." Their business still thrives today thanks to hard work, dedicated long time employees and the life long friendships made among people in the lumber industry. His hobbies included golf, hunting and fishing which he shared with his family and friends. Lee is survived by his wife Carole Turner, children, Michael, Darryl, and Nancy Turner, and grandchildren, David, Brianna, and Kristopher Turner. A Memorial Luncheon will be held at 8444 Pezzi Rd., Stockton, CA (East of Hwy. 99, South of 8 Mile Rd.) on Tuesday, August 3, at 1:00 p.m. The family would like for all of Lee's friends and business associates to join them in this celebration of life.
