He was born September 14, 1950, raised in Hughson and was a graduate of Hughson High Class of 1968. Chester was an Equipment Operator with the California Department of transportation for 12 years. He was an avid fan of both the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, and he loved hunting, camping and fishing. Loving husband for 23 years to Susan Hawkins of Groveland; beloved father of Suzanne Sanders and her husband, Ben of Denair, Sarah Getreu and her husband Michael of Modesto and Lindsey Hawkins of Groveland. Grandfather of seven beautiful grandchildren. Dear brother of Terry Hawkins and his wife, Megg and niece Lacie of Bridgeport. Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Bettie Hawkins. Friends are invited to attend funeral services, 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Lakewood Funeral Home, Hughson, CA. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
