He was born on July 7, 1937, in Stockton to Lyle and Eve Bergstrom. He attended Stockton schools and became a jockey/trainer at the age of 15. Archie served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a Corporal. He worked as a firefighter for the Lincoln and Stockton Fire Departments. He was on the Sprint car pit crew for the late Gary Patterson. He was a past Governor of the Stockton Moose Lodge and a member of the Lodi Elks Lodge. He enjoyed traveling and following the Sprint car circuit. He is preceded in death by his wife, Verna Bergstrom; his daughter, Tori Jane Bergstrom; his brother, Wallace Bergstrom and sister, Barbara Basham. He is survived by his brother, Romulus Bergstrom of Sacramento; his sister, Eleanor Schmidt of Stockton; sons, Alan Joseph Bergstrom of Stockton and Kenny Lyle Bergstrom of Carson City, NV; grandchildren, Katie and Kendra Bergstrom, and Marlo Bergstrom and fiance Pauline Meyer of Acampo. Friends are invited for visitation on Thursdy, August 5, 2004 at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, Lodi from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and to a funeral service in the Evergreen Chapel of the Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 & Harney Ln., Lodi. on Friday, August 6, 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Firefighters Burn Institute, 3101 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento 95820.
