Stella Ewart 
July 5, 1918 - July 11, 2004



Stella Ewart, 86, formerly of Stockton, CA, past away on Sunday, July 11, 2004, 
at the Hospice and Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Greeley, CO. Mrs. Ewart 
was born July 5, 1918 in Adini, CA to Jay William and Mina (Page) Watson. On 
July 27, 1939, Stella married James William Ewart Sr. in Stockton, CA where 
they lived and raised three children. Stella was born deaf. She grew up with 
her brother Bill and sister Margaret. Her brother Bill was also born deaf. When 
Stella was six years old, someone told her mother about a school for deaf 
children in Berkeley, CA. She attended the school during the school year and 
spent her summer months at home. Stella was locally employed and retired with 
the Teamsters Cannery Union. She eventually moved to live with her daughter 
in Evans, CO until her passing. 
Mrs. Ewart is survived by two daughters, Ellen Kroeger of Evans, CO and RIta 
Dosier of Stockton, CA, and a son, James William Ewart Jr. of Stockton, CA. 
Mrs. Ewart is also survived by six grandchildren, Phil Dosier, Chris Dosier, 
Rebecca Cory of Stockton, CA, Naomi Weiss of Copperopolis, CA, John Teem Jr. of 
North Little Rock, AR, and Steven Teem of Paris, TN; two nephews, Robert Watson 
of Stockton, CA, William Watson of Anchorage, AK; a niece, Mina Ostergard of 
Davis, CA; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded 
in death by her parents, her husband, brother Bill, sister Margaret Babcock. 
Memorial Services will be at Che-rokee Memorial Park in Lodi, CA on August 9, 
2004 at three p.m. with a reception to follow. 
In lieu of flowers, the family is 
requesting donations be made to: Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 
Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204
