Gardiner December 7, 1917 - August 5, 2004 James F. Gardiner, 86, a third generation Californian, James F. Gardiner died in a Stockton hospital and left behind his wife, Phyllis Autry Morel of Stockton; six children, Katharine G. Hale of Reno, John A. Gardiner of Laguna Beach, Arthur F. Gardiner of Reno, Ann Gardiner of Berkeley, James R. Gardiner of Grass Valley, and Janet Gardiner Leland of San Francisco; and his favorite sister, Katherine G. Todd of Santa Rosa. Jim was in the Army Air Corps and the Navy in WWII. He retired from a career as a business executive, beginning with Garrett Industries and ending his career as an entrepreneur. He was a resident of Stockton for 15 years. His interests included California history, particularly the mining districts in the Mother Lode, his family and his garden. While a Westerner in Southern California, he published original maps depicting fur-trade routes and old trails. Private Services/Committal.
