Born September 21, 1913, in San Carlos, CA, he graduated from Sequoia Union High School and Stanford University and attended Boalt Hall School of Law. Larry was elected district attorney in 1959 and was an Municipal Court Judge in San Joaquin County. He was Mr. Stockton in 1968, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Humphreys College over 10 years and taught law there for over 40 years. A member of Central United Methodist Church, Morning Star Lodge #68, F & AM, Stockton York Rite Bodies, a 33rd degree mason in the Stockton Scottish Rite Bodies, Ben Ali Temple, San Joaquin Shrine Club, Sciots Pyramid #5, past president of Stockton High 12 Club in 1973, California State Bar Assoc. for 60 years, San Joaquin Bar Assoc., American Bar Assoc. for 50 years, past president of California Attorneys Assoc., Judge of the year in 1976 by the Church of All Nations, life member of International Lions Club, Native Sons of the Golden West, National Geographic Society for 41 years, AARP, past president of 49er Council Boy Scouts of America in 1965-1967 and receiving the Silver Beaver award, Little League (Oak Park) Special Recognition in 1972, Girl Scouts, district chairman of Camp Fire Girls, life member of the PTA, president of United Way in 1968, past president of East Stockton Lions Club in 1958, special master of California State Bar, Salvation Army Advisory Board, special recognition Italian Athletic Club, past president of Board of Directors YMCA 1969-1971, past president Babe Ruth, director of Legal Aid Society of San Joaquin County, Stanford Alumni Assoc., director of California Judges Assoc., received special appreciation from Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2001, founding member National Law Enforcement Museum, honorary life member Stockton Musicians Assoc. in 1984, Ellis Island Foundation 1984 - 2004, Stockton Hall of Fame Assoc., life member of California Peace Officers Assoc., honorary member of the Wong Family Assoc., and served on various committees at O'Connor Woods. In 1940, Larry married Ruth Frankie Ruggles, who preceded him in death in 1991, after 51 years of marriage. In 1992, he married Venere Calisti Bowman, who survives him. Loving father of; Larry (Donna) Drivon, of Stockton, Polly McBridge, of Los Gatos, Stephen (Robyn) Drivon and David (Vanessa) Drivon, all of Stockton, and the late James Drivon, of Auburn. Grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of 6. Step father of Paul Bowman, of Las Vegas, NV, Beverly Borra and Nancy Merin, both of Lodi. Friends are invited to attend Funeral Services on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in the Central United Methodist Church, 3700 Pacific Ave., Stockton. Rev. David Bennett, Rev. Dr. Gary Putnam and Morning Star Lodge officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2004 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 831 Industrial Way, at Beckman, Lodi, CA. Max Carroll at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions to Humphreys College School of Law scholarship program, 6650 Inglewood Ave., Stockton, CA 95207, are preferred. A private Committal will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park.
