Charles was born in Springdale, Arkansas on October 27, 1918 to Vernon and Gertrude Sears. He went peacefully on August 21, 2004 in Stockton, CA. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Della N. Sears and his sister, Jessie E. Sears. He is survived by his sister Eileen Gilbert, of Mission, TX. Nephews Bill Harr, John Boardman and Michael Sears. Nieces Elizabeth Hoops, Carolyn Simons, Michele Barbeau, Linda Foglia, Peggy Mistark, Pamela Amo, Genevieve Barney, Virginia Boding and Florence Harwell. Many great nieces and nephews also survive him. Charles was a member of what has been called "the greatest generation". He served in the US Army during WW II. After WWII ended, Charles went to Stockton and married Della. They were married for 58 years. He worked as a typewriter repairman at the Tracy Army Depot for many years and retired when he was 55. Charles was a warm and loving man. He and Della loved to travel the U.S. in their RV, loved house boating and was a master woodworker. He never had a harsh word for anyone and always extended his hand. He loved his family and friends and will be missed deeply by all that loved him. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Somerford Place for their kindness and care.
