Elder Thurnell Clayton, Sr. 
January 7, 1925 - August 20, 2004



Thurnell Clayton, Sr., 79, was born on January 7, 1925, in Magnolia, Arkansas. 
He was the oldest son of Tom and Della Clayton. He was preceded in death by one 
son, Tommy L. Clayton. 
He leaves to mourn a wife of thirty years, Amanda Clayton; three daughters, 
JoAnn Frierson, Anita Barlow-Raynor, and Gloria Ann Clayton; two sons, Thurnell 
Clayton Jr. and Clevester Clayton. He leaves nine grandchildren, Walter 
Freierson, Matthew Freierson, Quintrell Clayton Jones, Derrick J. Clayton, 
Traumell R. Clayton, Kelly C. Clayon, Leviticus Barlow, Ebony Raynor, 
Christopher Hollis, and eight great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Mary H. 
Clayton all of Stockton; two step-children, Roger and Shirley, four step-
grandchildren all of Los Angeles, CA and a host of relatives and friends. 
Services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Pearly 
Gates C.O.G.I.C., 2171 E. 11th, Stockton, CA. Viewing: Wednesday, August 25, 
2004, 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. at Jesse E. Cooley, Jr. Funeral Service, 640 N. 
California St., Stockton.
