John Obertello 
December 28, 1924 - April 1, 2005
 
John Obertello, age 80, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2005. Mr Obertello was 
a lifelong resident of Stockton. He attended the old Stockton High School. He 
graduated from College of the Pacific (UOP) in 1950. He served in the U.S. army 
during World War II. Mr Obertello was a retired school teacher. He taught 
school for over 30 years for Manteca and Tracy School District. Upon retirement 
he worked part-time for Canepa's Car wash until his illness. He was an avid UOP 
sports fan. Attending all home games of Volleyball, Basketball and Football 
when they had a football team.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Daisy Obertello. He is 
survived by his sister, Marlene Morse of Stockton; his nieces, Shelley Williams 
(Eugene) of Vacaville, Lisa Royce (Robert) of Stockton; his nephew Perry Morse 
of Stockton and his great-nephews, Bryan Williams and Alex Williams of 
Vacaville.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on 
Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, 3847 N. Sutter St., 
Stockton, CA. A Rosary Service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at 7:00 
p.m. at the DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, CA. 
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. 
at DeYoungs. Committal: San Joaquin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. 
Mary's Dining Hall or the charity of your choice.
