Clyde, 88, passed away on October 22, 2005 in Lodi, California. She was born on July 22, 1917 in Duke, Oklahoma. She retired from Merced County General Hospital as an LVN after 20 years of service. She has been a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary since 1975 and was also affiliated with the Moose Lodge for many years. She was currently attending Lakeview Assembly Church in Stockton for the past nine years while living with her son in Lodi. Julia was known for abilities in the garden with flowers, chiefly with her yellow rose and in canning, especially when it came to her peach cobbler, peaches and various jams. Although Julia was known for many things she will be forever known as a caring mother and for the love and devotion that she shared with her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (and for always having a cookie for every grandchild). She is survived by her son, Roger Ulmer and his wife Sylvia of Lodi; brother, Walton Criswell of Merced; sister, Coma Ballenger of Merced; grandchildren, Sherri Holman of Lodi, Roger Ulmer II of Stockton and Christie LaPierre of Lodi; and by six great-grandchldren, Heather, Harrison, Hannah, Hayden, Joshua and Joseph. She was preceded in death by her first husband of eleven years, C. Woodrow Peterson; her second husband of ten years, Joseph Clyde and seven brothers and sisters. Vicitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Meced District Cemetery.
