Allan R. Powers 

Jan. 29, 1917 — Feb. 7, 2006

Graveside services will be Tuesday for longtime Tracy resident Allan R. 
Powers, 89, who died Feb. 7, 2006 at the Kaiser Hospital in Fremont.

Mr. Powers was born and raised in Tracy. He left Tracy in 1936 to attend 
school and serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He returned 
to Tracy in 1978.

Mr. Powers was a maintenance scheduler for United Airlines 33 years and was a 
member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, West Side Pioneers, San Joaquin 
Historical Society, Boy Scouts, Mt. Oso Masonic Lodge and Tracy Senior 
Citizens Inc. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels and at Tracy Interfaith 
Ministries, where he was a member of the board of directors. He was very close 
to the Tracy Fire Department and was considered an “honorary member” and 
friend by many there.

Mr. Powers is survived by friends David Barboza, and his wife, Brenda, of 
Valley Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily S. Powers; and parents, Dr. Allan 
R. Powers and Edith Eaton Powers. 

Tuesday’s graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. at Tracy Cemetery, 600 E. 
Schulte Road. Visitation will be observed from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at 
Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave. Contributions in Mr. Powers’ name may 
be sent to Tracy Interfaith Ministries, 2441 Holly Drive, Tracy 95376, or the 
Salvation Army, 180 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach 90802.
