Lodi Vineyardist Samuel Ritz, 78, Taken by Death
  Samuel Ritz, 78, Lodi resident for 54 years, died Wednesday morning in a 
local hospital after an extended illness.
  He was a native of South Russia and a retired Lodi vineyardist.  Mr. Ritz 
was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Lodi.
  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Karoline Ritz, who resides in the family 
home at 532 E. Walnut St., and the following brothers and sisters:  William 
Ritz of Sacramento;  John Ritz of Palo Alto; Mike Ritz, Mrs. Bertha Miller, 
and Mrs. Selma McKennell, all of Calgary, Canada; Mrs. Elsie Gaatz, Mrs. Sarah 
White, and Mrs. Lilly Reynolds, all of Los Angeles, and the late Mrs. Emma 
Helmle of Lodi, Alfred Ritz and Albert Ritz, both of Calgary.
  Funeral services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church at 2 p.m. 
Friday, Aug. 16.  Rev. Gene Forrest will officiate.
  Burial will follow in the Cherokee Memorial Park.  Friends may call at the 
Lodi Funeral Home until 12 noon Friday.
