Mr. Robinson was born in St. Cloud, Minn. He graduated from Castelmont High School in Oakland. Because of World War II, he missed out on the chance to play football at Stanford; instead he had to work at the Oakland shipyards. He came from a strong family line of stonecutters and artists, and was an artist in his own right. He retired from the Oakland Parks Department after working there for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Columbo Club of Oakland, and was a parishioner at St. Leanders Catholic Church in San Leandro, where he lived before moving to Tracy four years ago, and at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church for the past four years. Mr. Robinson is survived by his children, Claire Little, and her husband, Jeff, of San Leandro, Phillip Robinson of Sonoma, Christy Deavellar, and her husband, James, of Tracy, Mark Robinson, and his wife, Sabrina, of Exeter, and Kelly Robinson, and his wife, Trish, of Turlock; grandchildren, Greg Earle of Washington, Melissa Earle, and Melanie and Conrad Deavellar, all of Tracy, and Elliott Deavellar, serving in Japan; and siblings, Eleanor Kniffon of Walnut Creek and George Robinson of Beaverton, Ore. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Marilyn Robinson. Saturday’s memorial Mass will begin at 2 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Interment will be private. Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., is handling arrangements. Published on Wednesday, March 08, 2006, in the Tracy Press.
