Born in Alex, Okla., to Artie J. and Vernie I. Robison, he and his family moved to California during the early 1930s and eventually settled in Tracy. He helped build what is now known as the Tracy Defense Depot until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. He served honorably as a heavy mortar crewman in the 182nd Infantry Regiment in the Southern Philippines and Northern Solomon Islands. While serving, he met the brother of the woman he would marry. He and Lenora Frances Johnson exchanged letters, and after his discharge Dec. 2, 1945, he traveled to Texas where they were married Jan. 16, 1946. He and his wife returned to the Tracy/Manteca area where they raised seven children. He retired from the Depot after 33 years of service. He and his family moved to Elko, Nev., in 1983. He spent his time there hunting, fishing and camping. He was an expert marksman. He was very content with Elko, and also worked as a security guard for the Spring Creek Association in Spring Creek, Nev. He loved his grandchildren and will be remembered as a family man who was always there for his children. His family could always depend on his advice. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Mr. Robison is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lenora Robison of Spring Creek, Nev.; daughters, Frances Slaughter and Judy Robison , both of Elko, Jeannie Imperial of Reno, Nev., Patty Parragon of Atwater, and Mary Mulvaney of Spring Creek; a brother, Joe Robison of Overton, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Artie J. and Vernie I. Robison; and sons Jimmy Wayne and Ira Glen Robison Jr. Today’s service will begin at 1 p.m. at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave. Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Interment with military honors will be in Tracy Cemetery. Published on Thursday, January 12, 2006, in the Tracy Press.
