L. Dale Skaggs
L. Dale Skaggs, 89, of Lodi died Nov. 11 in a Lodi hospital. He was born Jan. 
1, 1916, in Hanover, Kan.

Mr. Skaggs was raised in Hastings, Kan., where he married Margaret Crabtree on 
Sept. 16, 1939. They moved to California in the 1940s. In the 1950s, Mr. Skaggs 
was a surveyor who was instrumental in building the California Aqueduct. 

The couple returned to Kansas in the 1950s. He was a television and radio 
salesman until his retirement in 1985. After living briefly in the Bay Area, 
they moved to Lodi in 1985. Mr. Skaggs enjoyed crossword puzzles and tending to 
flowers in his yard.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Skaggs, of Lodi; daughters, Judy Haley, of 
Lodi, and Bonnie Skaggs, of Sunnyvale; four grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee 
Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Opp of Temple Baptist Church 
officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Evergreen 
Chapel. Inurnment will be private.
