Robert M. ‘Bob’ Spellman

Feb. 22, 1942 — March 10, 2006

A Memorial Mass will be Saturday for U.S. Army veteran Robert M. “Bob” 
Spellman, 64, who died March 10, 2006 at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. 

Born in Seattle, Mr. Spellman lived in Tracy six years and previously in 
Pleasanton 18 years. He was a beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather 
who had a smile and a joke for everyone he met. He had a long, successful 
career as a freight salesman. His favorite hobby was traveling in his RV. He 
especially enjoyed visiting Mexico. He also enjoyed reading, fishing and 
playing golf. Mr. Spellman’s delightful sense of humor and love of life will 
be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Spellman is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jo Anne Spellman of Tracy; 
children, Elizabeth Spellman of San Jose and Matt Spellman of Pleasanton; 
siblings, Jim Spellman Jr., Mike Spellman and Cathy Westenberger, all of 
Washington; and grandchildren, Emily and Lana Spellman, both of Pleasanton.

Saturday’s Memorial Mass will begin at 1 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 
4001 Stoneridge Drive, in Pleasanton. Interment will be in Golden National 
Cemetery in San Bruno. Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., is handling 
arrangements.

Contributions in Mr. Spellman’s name may be sent to the American Diabetes 
Association, 2720 Gateway Oaks, No. 110, Sacramento 95833; or to American 
Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville MD 20852.
