Mrs. Spencer was born in Olney, Texas, and celebrated her 93rd birthday Monday. She lived in California 65 years, 43 of them in Tracy. She worked 25 years as a waitress at various places in town, including Henry’s Drive-in, which once stood at the corner of 11th Street and Tracy Boulevard, and Berkeley Farms, which was at the corner of 11th and B streets. Mrs. Spencer also volunteered at the Livermore Veterans Hospital and Tracy Community Hospital for many years. She enjoyed embroidery and won many first- place awards at the San Joaquin County Fair, and she treasured her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Spencer is survived by her two sons, Harold Watkins, and his wife, Sue, of Anaheim and Byron Watkins of Tracy; daughter, Dorothy Priest of Stockton; seven grandchildren, Kimberlee Parker of Reno, Nev., Jim and Bob Priest of Stockton, Nate and Thad Watkins of Anaheim, Christine Watkins of Spokane, Wash., and Melissa Watkins of Empire; 10 great-grandchildren, Shauna Priest of Florida, James and Skyler Priest of Stockton, Mackenzie Parker of Reno, Maycee Priest of Stockton and Noah, Carson, Jake, Allie and Brayden Watkins of Anaheim; and her “bestest” friend, Margaret. Saturday’s graveside services will begin at 9 a.m. at Tracy Cemetery. No visitation is planned. Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., is handling arrangements.
