Freda Suess
  Freda Suess, 93 of Lodi, died Sept. 20 in a local convalescent hospital 
following a brief illness.
  Born April 29, 1898 in Kulm, N.D., the former Freda Hildenbrand moved to 
Clements with her family in 1903.  She was reared in Clements and attended 
Justice School, but moved to Canada in 1919.
  She married Edwin J. Suess in Trochu, Alberta, Canada on November 21, 1919.  
They farmed there and returned to Lodi in 1941.
  Mrs. Suess was a homemaker.
  She was a member of the Westside Assembly and Women’s Ministries of the 
church.  She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, quilting and music.
  Survivors include six sons, Forrest Suess, LeRoy Suess, Ivan Suess, Virgil 
Suess, and Kelly Suess, all of Lodi, and Reuben Suess of Hayden Lake, Idaho; 
one daughter, Ramona Suess of Marysville, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-
grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Suess in 1985; four 
brothers, Jake, William, John and Charles Hildenbrand; and six sisters, Hanna 
Hauff, Carrie Ritz, Margaret Youngman, Christine Ritz, Bertha Brooks and 
Katherine Helmle.
  A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Lodi Funeral Home 
with pastors Skipp Suess, Ron Suess, Rod Suess and Gene Forrest officiating.
  Committal will be in Cherokee Memorial Park.
  Visitation will be at the Lodi Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Women’s 
Ministries, 75 N. Crescent Ave., Lodi, 95240 or to Gideon’s International, 
P.O. Box 971, Lodi, 95241.
