Andrea Sams 
Andrea Sams, 37, of Elk Grove and formerly of Lodi, died May 16 in a Sacramento 
hospital of breast cancer. She was born April 13, 1968, in Willows.

Mrs. Sams attended school in Lodi and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 
1987. 

She worked for Pacific Bell for 10 years and most recently worked as a 
secretarial assistant at Longyear, Odae & Lavra Law firm. She met her husband 
in 1993, and they were married two years later.

She enjoyed volunteering in her children's classrooms at Foulks Ranch 
Elementary School in Elk Grove, where she also enjoyed watching them 
participate in various sports. She enjoyed going to Fort Bragg and shared the 
tradition with her family. She was an avid water and snow skier, and enjoyed 
jet boat races. She was also an avid football fan. She recently had started 
scrapbooking, and started taking horseback riding lessons with a professional 
coach. She and her husband were certified scuba divers in 2000, and made about 
30 dives together.

She is survived by her husband of almost 10 years, Mark Sams; daughter, 
Alexandrea; son, Robert; parents, Arlis and Bob Osuna; grandmothers, Ann 
Carrier, of Willows, Violet Ingraham, of Chico, and Eileen Osuna, of Elk Grove.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic 
Church, 1333 58th St., Sacramento. Internment will follow at Hilltop Cemetery 
in Elk Grove. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 
1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd., 
Elk Grove. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sutter Cancer 
Center, 2800 L St., Sacramento, CA 95816.

Elk Grove Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
