He was born on April 7, 1913 in Dresden, Germany. John attended the Freimaurar-Institut, Dresden, Germany and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, earning his Master's Degree in Meat Technology. John married Hope Thompson on June 30, 1945 in Pottsgrove, PA. During their 59-year marriage, John and Hope shared a love for travel. They visited all of the fifty United States and traveled to many foreign countries. John was active in the food industry for over sixty years, and was an honorary member of the Culinary Institute. His colleagues respected him for his innovative and creative ideas. John was well known as a pioneer of pre-packaged meats. He is survived by his wife, Hope; daughter, Mary Ann Simoneau and son-in-law, Fernand Simoneau of Lodi' granddaughter, Laura Wuertz-Barac of Calabasas; and grandson, Paul Simoniau of Lodi. Inurnment and Celebration of Life for John will be private and at sea. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA, 95204.
