Joseph Smith 
Joseph Darrell Smith, 54, of Lodi, died April 6 in Lodi. He was born Nov. 2, 
1950, in Meade County, Ky., where he was raised.

Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He worked as a 
utility company safety supervisor for about 30 years. He and his wife have 
lived in may locations and settled in Lodi in 1997. He enjoyed riding 
motorcycles, watching old movies, yard sales, flea markets, music and movie 
trivia, college and NBA basketball games and restoring his 1966 Buick Skylark. 
He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children. 

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Smith, of Lodi; son, Cole W. Smith, of 
Berkeley; daughters, Virginia C. Smith, of San Francisco, Jacklyn SB Smith and 
Andrea L. Smith, both of Lodi; brothers, Bobby, Larry and Donnie Smith, all of 
Kentucky; sisters, Shirley Hamilton, Mary Jane Neeld, Joan Pryor and Jill 
Smith, all of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Willie Lou Rivers, Rita Grandchamp and 
Linda Kruse.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 
corner of Church and Walnut Streets, Lodi.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American 
Veterans, 7743 N. West Lane, Suite A-2, Stockton, CA 95210.
