Viola Smith 
Viola Smith, 91, of Lodi, died May 2 in a Lodi care home. She was born Feb. 1, 
1914, in Colgate, Okla.

Mrs. Smith married Robert Harold Smith in 1930 in Lovington, Texas, and they 
made their home in Lodi. She took care of many children in her day care for 18 
years. She was a member of Grace Church of Lockeford, and was a former member 
of the Lockeford Rebekah Lodge. 

She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Randall and Betsy Grimes; five 
grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four step-
great-grandchildren and eight step-great-great-grandchildren.





Viola Smith
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert Harold Smith; 
daughter, Calvaline Smith; granddaughter, Teresa Vilene Randall; and grandson, 
Robert Steven Branstetter.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cherokee Memorial Park 
Cemetery with Linda Amador of United Congregational Church officiating. There 
will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
