Lorena Uhlich
Lorena Uhlich, 84, of Lodi, died Oct. 16 in a Stockton hospital She was born 
July 26, 1921, in Lodi, where she was raised.

Mrs. Uhlich was employed as a credit manager at J.C. Penny Co. for 18 years. 
Prior to retirement, she also worked at Dunlop Department Store and owned and 
operated the OK Coffee Shop for five years. She was a member of the Business 
and Professional Women's Club Stockton Chapter, the San Joaquin Sheriffs 
Auxiliary, the Lodi Dakota Club and the Zinfandel Auxiliary of Lodi Memorial 
Hospital. She was also very active in various activities for 30 years while 
living at Casa de Lodi. She enjoyed traveling and covered all 50 states as well 
as Canada and Mexico. She also enjoyed playing cards, making jalapeno pepper 
jelly and was an avid bingo player. She taught herself how to sew, crochet and 
knit.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Ahart, of Lodi and James Ahart, of Mountain 
Ranch; sisters, Eleanor Hopkins and Lillian Palin, both of Lodi; four 
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Uhlich in 1998; and brother, 
Harry L. Young.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gierhart-Wells & Donahue 
Funeral Home. Interment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. 
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 2720 
Gateway Oaks Dr., Suite 110, Sacramento, CA 95833; or to a charity of the 
donor's choice.

Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
