David Wayne Waite

Jan. 30, 1970 — March 5, 2006

Services will be Friday for police officer David Wayne Waite, 36, who died 
Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Modesto.

Born to Wayne and Pamela Waite in Stockton, Mr. Waite grew up in Merced and 
graduated from Merced High School in 1988. He also attended some college and 
the police academy. In 1998, he married Emily R. Boyle. He had been a police 
officer for 16 years, and had worked at the Merced County Sheriff’s 
Department, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department and most recently at the 
Tracy Police Department. 

Mr. Waite was a member of the Merced/Mariposa Narcotic Task Force, Merced 
Sheriff’s Dive Team and Tracy SWAT Team. He was an all-around nice person who 
enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was wonderful husband, son, father and 
brother. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Waite is survived by his wife, Emily R. Waite, of Oakdale; children, David 
Wayne Waite Jr. of Los Banos and Evan and Abigayle Waite, both of Oakdale; 
parents, Wayne and Pamela Waite of Merced; grandparents, Charles and Marie 
Waite and Joanne Dexter, all of Stockton; brother, Douglas Waite of Merced; 
niece, Molly Waite; and family friend Jerry Carter.

Contributions in Mr. Waite’s name may be sent to a trust fund in his name at 
Tracy Federal Credit Union, account No. 10037-72; or to West America Bank, 
account No. 2291958102, both in Tracy.

Friday’s services will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 671 
E. Yosemite Ave., in Merced. Interment will be in Merced District Cemetery in 
Merced. Tracy Chaplain Don Higgins from the Tracy Police Department will 
preside.

Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home, 901 W. Main St., in Merced, is handling 
arrangements.
