Born to Lige and Daisy Henson in Malam, Texas, Mrs. Williams lived in Tracy more than 60 years. She worked for H.J. Heinz Co. 16 years until retiring in 1979. She married James Williams on Sept. 12, 1936. Always a Texan at heart, she and her husband made it a ritual to travel back to Texas to visit family and friends. She enjoyed sharing memories of growing up in Texas while preparing homemade meals in her kitchen. She was an outstanding cook and many would comment on her abilities. She would feed anyone who was hungry, and she had strong faith in God. Words are not enough to describe this beautiful Christian woman and the many lives she touched. Mrs. Williams is survived by her children, Cloteal Smith of Patterson, Charles and Raymond Williams, both of Stockton, Roy Williams of Lodi, Judy Simmons of Wallace and Gary Williams of Victorville; siblings, David Henson of Stockton, George Henson of Tracy and Lula Belle Thompson of Houston, Texas; 32 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Williams; two sons, Tommy and Earl Williams; a brother, Dogan Henson; sisters, Pauline Williams, Annie Pearl Singleton, Lonzie Robertson and Verggie Henson. Friday’s service will begin at 11 a.m. at Tracy Community Church, 1790 Sequola Blvd. Visitation will be observed from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cooley Mortuary, 640 N. California St., in Stockton.
