G. Woodson James G. Woodson, who first came to the Lodi district in 1858, passed away at his home in Stockton, Saturday afternoon following a long illness. He was born at Diamond Springs, Eldorado County, California, June 6, 1856, and was past 85 years of age. He came to the Lodi district with his parents when two years of age. They settled on a farm near Smith’s slough. The deceased was married in June, 1884, to Mary M. Brown. They continued to reside on the family farm until two years ago when he retired and they moved to Stockton to make their home. Mr. Woodson was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge at Galt which he joined April 16, 1881. He joint the Christian church in 1894 and served in many offices in the church. He is survived by his wife, Mary. He was the father of the late Evelyn Woodson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the chapel of the Wells Funeral Home with Rev. Benjamin Smith, pastor of the First Christian church of Stockton officiating. Interment will be in Lodi cemetery with officers of Galt lodge of Odd Fellows in charge of the committal services.
