Elmer Werner

  Elmer Werner, 92, of Lodi, died June 15 at a local convalscent hospital of 
natural causes following a short illness.
  He was born June 17, 1912 in McClusky, North Dakota to John and Lydia Werner. 
He moved to Lodi in 1932. He joined the Army in the 30's and then served again 
during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He worked for General Mills for 25 
years. In 1961 he married Pauline Dietterle Berg. He enjoyed working and having 
fun with the Fifty Plus Club, Dakota Club and Moose Lodge. 
  He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; his brothers: John, Emil, Ted, 
George, Ervin, Melvin, William and Marvin Werner. Also preceding him in death 
was his stepdaughter, Donna Larson and stepson Robert Berg. 
  He is survived by his brother, Fred Werner of Bismarck, North Dakota and 
sisters: Adeline Gessele of Washburn, North Dakota, Ellen Waltz of Phoenix, 
Arizona and Elvina Krine of McClusky, North Dakota. He is also survived by 
stepdaughters: Erna Clifford of Walnut Creek, CA, Alice Lucas and Shirley 
Spiekerman of Lodi, Ca; stepsons, Raymond Berg of Stockton, CA and Elmer Berg 
and George Berg of Lodi, CA, and 17 grandchildren.
  Services are at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial 
Park, Lodi, CA with Rev. Dr. David Hill presiding.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer 
Society, 207 E. Alpine Ave., Stockton, CA 95204 or Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 
Pacific Ave. Stockton, CA 95204.
  Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
