He was born on October 13, 1934 in Lindale, Texas, the son of Homer Williams and Ruth Jackson Williams. He came to California at an early age and grew up in San Francisco, where he attended local schools, and graduated from Galileo High School. After high school he attended Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR and later Stanislaus State University where he attained a Bachelor's degree. Mr. Williams was retired Parole Agent for the California Youth Authority, where he served for 46 years. He was a member of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association, and was trustee for the Grandparent's Program of the CYA. He was an avid collector of vintage cars and enjoyed restoring them. Mr. Williams is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Mrs. Ellen V. Williams of Stockton; three children: Kimberly Williams, Kerstin Williams and Homer Grayland Williams (and his wife Ami), all of Stockton; one grandson; Brian Williams, and one great-grandson; Dominique Williams; four sisters, Clara Sample of Union City, CA; Ruth Edwards of Antioch; Phoebe Williams and Hazel Nielson both of San Francisco. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Doris Davis of Stockton, and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Friends are invited to attend visitations from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary, 809 N. California Street in Stockton. A Celebration of Life Service will be offered at 12:00 Noon on Friday, April 8, 2005 at Emanuel Baptist Church, 715 S. Windsor Street in Stockton. Graveside committal service and interment will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park, Harney Lane at Highway 99 in Lodi.
