Wong October 7, 1916 - April 7, 2005 John G. Wong, 88, passed away peacefully at his Stockton home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 7, 2005. John was born in Canton, China 200 mi. from Hong Kong and arrived with his parents in the U.S. at age two. He was the oldest of ten children. He attended Hazelton High and Stockton College. He was active in the community, St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Wong Family Assn., Cathay Club, Moose Club #391, Jene Wah Inc., Stockton SIRS #46 and Grand Jury, 1981. He was a welder for oil barges and tanker ships with Kyle and Co. during World War II. Afterwards, he owned and operated the Palace Market. He retired from the Deuel Vocational Institute in 1979. He was a realtor with Frank Orello, Century 21 Real Estate and retired in 1989. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, fishing, sports and Mah Jong. He is survived by his wife Leona; he was the loving father to Sandra Won (Mel), of Stockton, Karen Eng (Ron) of San Jose and Calvin Wong (Janis) of Sacramento and proud grandfather to Kecia Won Jones (Rick), Dean Won (Noelle), Kyle Won, Chad Eng, Elisa Wong and Christopher Wong, as well as great-grandfather to Tyler and Mackenzie Jones. He is also survived by brothers, Keith Wong of Stockton, David Wong of Sacramento; sisters, Peggy Quan of Los Angeles, Joycelyn Yee of Richmond and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Gordon Wong, Kenneth Wong and Alan Wong. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 306 E. Clay St. in Stockton at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2005. To honor his memory, contributions can be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 306 E.
