The Telegram (San Luis Obispo, California).  June 29, 1908 (Monday). Page 8.  
George R. Balaam Sr. was born November 21, 1827 in London, England to George 
Balaam and Sarah (Swain) Balaam.  He married Phoebe Jane Davidson (1835-1927) 
in 1850 in Arkansas.  They are buried in the Arroyo Grande Cemetery.
